DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS OF INCREASED ACTH SECRETION

Differential diagnosis of increased ACTH secretion are : 
-pituitary ACTH secreting adenoma ( microadenoma) 
-hypothalamic hyperfunction ( increased corticotropin - releasing hormone)
-ACTH therapy 
-ectopic ACTH syndrome 
-primary adrenal cortical insufficiency ( congenital, iatrogenic, tuberculosis, drugs, neoplasm, infiltrative, autoimmune, idiopathic, infarction, hemorrhage ( Waterhouse - Friderichsen)
