ABIBLO HEALTH - BASIC FOODS
Basic foods also known as acid foods are terms focusing on the residue of the metabolism of foods. Phosphorus, chlorine and sulphur are acid forming while calcium, sodium, magnesium and potassium are base forming. The residue can either be acid or based and it depends on which mineral salt as explained above predominates in food. As an example, eggs, cereals and cheese are acidic residue while fruit, vegetables and milk are basic residue. Neutral residue is common mostly in sugar and fats as they have no mineral content. Fruit may have an acidic taste. However, it will leave a base / alkaline residue during metabolisation process due to the organic acids in the fruit being completely oxidised.
